How the appointment runs

Consultation
A full facial assessment, medical history and a frank conversation about what is achievable, and what is not.

Treatment
Fine injections with topical anaesthetic for comfort. Around 30 minutes.

Afterwards
Swelling is normal for 24–48 hours and some bruising is possible. Avoid strenuous exercise and heat for a day.

Two-week review
Dr Azoo sees you again to check the result and plan anything further. Reviews are included.

Before and after your appointment

Dr Azoo goes through this with you at your consultation. These points are a reminder, and he will adjust them to you.

Before your appointment

Tell Dr Azoo about your medicines, allergies, and whether you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or unwell.
Tell Dr Azoo if you get cold sores, and about any recent or planned dental work.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand.
Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen unless a doctor has prescribed it for you. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Come without make-up on the area if you can, or be ready for it to be cleaned.
Eat and drink as usual before you come.

Aftercare

Swelling for 24 to 48 hours is expected, and the lips can look uneven until it settles.
Avoid lipstick, kissing, strenuous exercise and heat for 24 hours.
Sleep with your head slightly raised on the first night.
Bruising is possible. It fades over the following days.
Contact the clinic promptly if pain is increasing, the skin changes colour, or anything worries you.

Common questions

Will it look natural?

That is the aim. Dr Azoo advises on the quantity and shape that suit your face, and usually starts conservatively.

Does it hurt?

A topical anaesthetic is applied and most fillers contain a local anaesthetic. Most people describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful.

Can it be reversed?

Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed.
